Things I Will Not Tolerate:
suuuuuuuuuper predictable writing.
Background: husband and wife [Michael & Julie]. Distant. Have recently reconciled. Money means nothing! Power means nothing! Only life and happiness matters!
Setting: A walk in the park with an adorable child [Noah] and a scrappy dog [Bear].
Quotes:
- “‘What do you want to do tonight?’ I asked as the path curved around to run parallel with a busy street and Noah pulled a thin nylon leash from his back pocket and whistled for Bear.”
- “‘Here, boy!’ Noah was calling. But something had caught Bear’s attention. It was a squirrel, I noticed absently.“
- “‘Bear!’ Noah ran after his dog, and Michael dropped my hand to join the chase…”
Now, I haven’t read the rest, yet, because this was just TOO DUMB and obviously set up. The last sentence on the next page starts, “I heard a squeal of tires…”
Ugh so dumb SURPRISE ME A LITTLE-
